يا أرْضَ بَابِلْ ..يا أرْضَ كِِلْدَانَ الحزينةْ
يا قَطْرَةَ الشَّرَفِ الوحيدةِ في دَمِ المُدُنِ الجديدةْ
هو ذا المَسَاءُ يَعودُ بالذَّكرى .
ولا ذكرى تُصَالِحُني ...وَتَكْفُرُ بي القصيدةْ
هو ذا المَسَاءُ يَعودُ مِنْ أقصى البِلادِ..يَعودُ بِالمُدُنِ الوحيدةْ
وَكَدَمْعَةٍ هَزَأَتْ بها الأجْفَانُ.. عُدْتُ
كَلَوْحَةٍ طُرِدَتْ مِنَ البِرْوَازِ.. عُدْتُ
يا أرضَ بابلُ
والبَلابِلُ أَوْصَدَتْ أبَوابَها في وَجْهِ أُغنيتي الحزينةْ
أنت المدينةَ للغريبِ..
كم انْتَهَى أَمْرُ الغريبِ بِكُلِّ غُرْبَتِهِ إليكِ
فلم تنامي عَنْهُ .. كَمْ نَامَتْ يَدَاهُ على يَدَيْكِ
